Red Sox Trade Deadline Winners? Not really

Although Victor Martinez gives the Red Sox another bat and eventually a replacement for the fading and PED-positive David Ortiz, this does not give them the "DUB" for the trade deadline. That would go to the team that got this man below.



The Philadelphia Phillies scooped Cliff Lee without giving up any of their major prospects. This trade improves the Phillies today and next year when those prospects are ready to contribute on the big league squad. One thing remains constant in baseball and that is that pitching rules. The Phillies added an AL Cy Young winner without giving up any major prospects. That sounds like a "DUB" at the trade deadline.

    Cliff Lee was a tremendous acquisition for the Phils. Based on needs for both the Phils and Red Sox, one could argue they both were huge winners of the trade deadline.
    I see a Phils vs Red Sox World Series.
